Microsoft recently abandoned its universal Microsoft Points system for Xbox Live in favour of local currencies and the result, at least for Indian Xbox Live users, is cheaper games.
There are certain publisher-specific trends visible EAs games are priced almost the same across both, 2Ks games tend to be cheaper on PSN, and Capcoms games are way cheaper on Xbox Live, but by and large, we noticed games are a lot cheaper on Xbox 360.

But how does this work under the new real-money Xbox Live?.
Microsoft appears to have Stepped It Up on the GTA 5 front, offering those who pre-order the game from the US Microsoft Store 1600 MP at no additional charge. But how does this work, exactly, now that Microsoft Points are dead as the Dodo, and Xbox Live transactions are carried out in real moolah?

Microsoft Points have been retired, but you won't lose what you've already paid for.
Microsoft Points have been replaced with local currency pricing, with existing balances also being converted over to the new system.
"To make this a seamless and positive experience for our customers, we have considered many factors to help ensure that the amount added to your Microsoft account is of equal or greater Marketplace value than your Microsoft Points," Microsoft says.
Converted Points must be spent by June 1, 2015.
Xbox 360 players will be prompted to download and install the update the next time they boot up their console while connected to Xbox...

Latest update converts Microsoft Points to local currency; system had been in place since inception of Xbox Live.
A new Xbox Live update launched today converts Microsoft Points to real-world currency determined by a user's geographic location.
The next time users initiate a purchase or redeem a Microsoft Points card or code on their console, Microsoft will add to their account an amount of local currency equal or greater than the value of their Microsoft Points.
The currency added to accounts at the time of this transition will expire on June 1, 2015, Microsoft said. Currency purchased and added to an account after the transition will not expire. formation about the change is available through an .
The transition was announced during Microsoft's Electronic Entertainment Expo briefing in June. Earlier this month, Microsoft behind the update.
"This change was a direct result of customer feedback," chief product officer Marc Whitten said at the time. "You told us you want to be able to buy things using money instead of points, and we listened."
Microsoft points had been in place since the inception of Xbox Live and have not been without criticism. Rather than using real-world currency, Microsoft adopted its own system, where 400 Microsoft points is equivalent to $5. Further, Microsoft sold point packs only in multiples of 400, often leaving gamers with excess points after purchasing content they want.

| Microsoft Points No More
Added: 26.08.2013 16:18 | 34 views | 0 comments
Microsoft has posted a software update to the XBox 360 today, finally and effectively ending the terror reign of Microsoft Points, finally converting them into local currencies. All those leftover 80 points will now be leftover 1 dollars.
The update is quite quick, and there will be no visible change in appearance to the dashboard aside from prices being listed in dollars instead of points.
When you go to buy a game for the first time, the store will convert your current points into dollars. You have until June 1, 2015 to convert your points. Players can still buy and redeem Microsoft Point cards and those will be converted as well upon entry. Later this year (guessing around Holiday season), Microsoft will be offering XBox Gift Cards instead.
